Brief CV:

Research Interests: My areas of interest and expertise include environmental crime, social harm, organizational crime, environmental governance and environmental justice. 

Work experience: I am a postdoctoral research fellow of the Research Fund Flanders, with Ghent University as a host institution. This research focuses on the significance of harm in environmental governance decision making. I also work as an Assistant Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands). I previously worked as Assistant Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (USA) and as a post-doctoral researcher at Ghent University. From 2009 until 2012, I was a researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Business at Ghent University (Reserach Group Governing and Policing Security - GaPS). Before I started my PhD research, I worked as a researcher at Ghent University and the Flemish Center for Police Studies (CPS) doing research on police leadership, commissioned by the Department of the Interior. I am also an assistant editor of the European Journal of Policing Studies. 


2009-2012: PhD in Criminology at Ghent University (Belgium) - This research examined the governance of transnational environmental crime. I focused on the illegal transports of e-waste and tropical timber connected to the Belgian harbor of Antwerp, with field research in Ghana. I was awarded the 2013 Rudi Verheyen Award for research with a particular relevance for environmental policy.
